Most chiropractic ad copy in Australia would fail an Ahpra audit.

Not through carelessness. Through following general marketing advice in a profession that has its own regulator issued list of things you may not say, and three agencies ranking for chiropractic keywords right now recommending you do exactly that.

Start here

The advice ranking for your keywords could get you prosecuted.

Three Australian agencies currently ranking for chiropractic Google Ads terms recommend using patient testimonials, Google review ratings or before and after stories in ad copy. For a chiropractor that is advice to commit a criminal offence under section 133 of the National Law, punishable by up to $60,000 per offence.

We are not naming them, because the point is not the individual agencies. The point is that the visible advice in this market is written by people who have not read the Chiropractic Board's material, and a clinic following it in good faith carries the liability, not the agency that wrote it.

Will not survive an audit

  • Proven safe and effective. Blanket efficacy and safety claims cannot be corrected, only removed.
  • Treating asthma, colic, ear infections and bedwetting. A condition list, and the paediatric claims must be removed.
  • Our specialist paediatric chiropractor. There is no specialist registration in chiropractic.
  • Dr Sarah Chen, health practitioner. If Dr is used, the profession must be stated every time.
  • $47 first visit, this month only. Urgency phrasing Ahpra names specifically, and an offer with no terms.

Says the same thing lawfully

  • Registered chiropractors, regulated under the National Law. Verifiable and genuinely differentiating.
  • Managing muscular tension often associated with asthma. The Board's own corrected wording.
  • Particular interest in musculoskeletal issues in children. The Board's suggested alternative.
  • Dr Sarah Chen (chiropractor). Required, and takes four characters.
  • $47 initial consultation. Terms apply, linked directly to a findable terms page.

Do not cut chiropractic spend over Christmas
It is an Australian allied health convention to pull budget in December. Measured against its own annual mean, chiropractic search demand falls about 8 per cent in December. Physiotherapy falls more than 20 per cent, and osteopathy about 14. Chiropractic demand holds up roughly twice as well as physiotherapy's, while auction pressure falls with everyone else's budgets. December is usually the cheapest month of the year to buy a chiropractic patient, and most clinics are dark for it.

Questions clinic owners actually ask

Can a chiropractor advertise a discounted first visit?
Yes, but the terms and conditions have to be in the advertisement. Section 133 prohibits offering a discount or inducement unless the advertisement also states the terms, which is difficult in a Google ad where headlines run to thirty characters. Ahpra's guidelines allow for this: where the terms cannot sit alongside the offer, the advertisement must direct the public to where they are, and they must be easily found rather than exhaustively searched for. So a linked, specific terms page works. What does not work is the phrasing that usually accompanies these offers, because for a limited time only and don't miss out are named in the guidelines as urgency language that may itself be unlawful.
Are Google Ads seller ratings a problem for chiropractors?
It is an open question, and anyone telling you it is settled is guessing. Seller ratings and review extensions republish aggregated third party star ratings inside an advertisement you control, and Ahpra's testimonial rule turns on whether a statement expresses a clinical aspect. A bare numeric star rating arguably expresses none. Ahpra has not addressed the question and no enforcement action either way exists that we can find. Our position is to keep clinical review content out of assets we author, and to raise the ambiguity with the clinic rather than quietly leave the exposure on their account.
Should a chiropractic clinic bid on the term chiropractor near me?
Usually yes, but not as the whole account. It is the largest term in the category at around 40,500 searches a month nationally, and also the most expensive, at an average $8.11 with a top of page bid of $12.64 on Medical Marketing Group's Q3 2026 Australian figures. Spread across 6,408 registered chiropractors nationally, the volume in any one catchment is thinner than the headline suggests. It works as a foundation with tight geography and strong negatives, alongside condition and funding specific campaigns that cost considerably less.
Does Google restrict chiropractic advertising?
No. Google's healthcare and medicines policy does not restrict chiropractic in Australia and does not require certification for it. Certification applies to online pharmacies, telemedicine providers, pharmaceutical manufacturers and addiction services. This is worth knowing because clinics frequently assume Google is the constraint. It is not. Ahpra is, and Ahpra's rules are considerably stricter than anything in Google's policy.
