Veterinary · why otp

Every healthcare agency will quote you a regulator you do not have.

Ahpra governs fifteen professions and yours is not one of them. We work to the board in your state, which for a Victorian clinic means a statutory advertising offence and for a Queensland clinic means no advertising provision at all.

The thing that makes this vertical different to run

There is no national answer to check.

For every other clinic type on this site, the compliance question has one answer that applies nationally. Veterinary does not. We read the current Act, code or guidelines for the state the clinic actually practises in, because the differences are material and in at least one case they directly contradict each other.

That matters most for multi site groups. A single set of responsive search assets running across Victoria and South Australia can contain a headline that one board expressly permits and the other flags as potentially misleading. The fix is straightforward once you know, and nobody knows because nobody has written the comparison down.

How we work

Four things specific to veterinary.

We write to your state board
Victoria has a statutory advertising offence covering misleading claims, offers without terms, and comparison with other practices. South Australia and Western Australia publish detailed titles guidance. Queensland's Act has no advertising provision. That changes the copy, and no agency writing from an Ahpra template will catch it.
We use the testimonials
Lawful in every jurisdiction we could verify, and prohibited for every human health profession. In a category where the decision is emotional and expensive, an honest client account outperforms anything else on the page.
We plan the emergency budget properly
Google paces to roughly 30.4 times the daily budget regardless of schedule, so an overnight campaign concentrates spend rather than saving it. We set that expectation before the first invoice rather than explaining it afterwards.
We find out who actually owns your competitors
Corporate ownership sits around 15 to 20 per cent and the groups deliberately retain local branding. Knowing which of your neighbours is backed by a national network changes what a sensible budget and a sensible positioning look like.
What we will not do
Advertise hours a clinic cannot staff, which in Victoria is a professional conduct breach rather than merely an overreach. Run comparative copy in the states that prohibit it. Use a specialist title, or any title ending in -ist, for a practice without registered specialists, which carries a maximum $20,000 penalty in South Australia. Or quote you the cost per lead figure that circulates in this category, which is derived by applying an assumed conversion rate to a click price rather than measured from any real account.

Questions clinic owners actually ask

How quickly does a veterinary Google Ads account start working?
Live in seven days, with calls usually inside the first week, because veterinary has genuine urgent demand and the clicks are comparatively cheap at a weighted average of around $3.64. Emergency campaigns read faster than routine ones because the intent is immediate. The part that takes longer is getting the value weighting right so the account learns the difference between a vaccination enquiry and an emergency admission, which needs enough volume of both. Expect a real read at about eight weeks.
Can you help a clinic in more than one state?
Yes, and it needs separate ad copy per state rather than one national asset set, which is the part most agencies miss. The boards genuinely differ: species and condition descriptors that South Australia expressly permits are flagged in Victorian guidance, comparative advertising is a statutory offence in Victoria but unaddressed in the Queensland Act, and Western Australia extends its conduct rules explicitly to social media and to advertising in any medium. We would rather build state specific assets than run one set that is compliant in some of your markets.
Do you work with more than one veterinary clinic in the same area?
No, one per catchment. It matters here for an additional reason worth naming: several apparently independent clinics are owned by national corporate groups that retain local branding, so a catchment can be more contested than it looks. We check that before taking a client, and we take one clinic per area.
What do you need from a veterinary clinic to get started?
Access to the Google Ads account and Business Profile, your actual roster including after hours, your consultation fees for both day and emergency, which practice management system you run, and which state or states you operate in. That last one shapes the copy more than anything else. We will also want to know honestly whether you have capacity overnight, because advertising emergency availability you cannot staff is a conduct problem in some states and a reputation problem in all of them.
